DESCRIPTION
Spinning enacts the cyclical nature of life — the constant circular motion of getting up, continuing, falling, and getting up again — inside a small walled space with no door, only a narrow opening. The enclosure intensifies the effort: there is nowhere to go, yet the body keeps spinning. In between, the head strikes the wall accidentally, the body falls, but it rises again. The spinning continues until exhaustion forces a final fall. The work holds the relentless human effort to survive and persist within the confined conditions of one’s own existence — the motion never resolves, it only stops when the body can no longer sustain it.
The video is shot in negative, inverting light and dark — what is normally hidden becomes visible, what is normally seen recedes. The negative image reveals the inner state: the brightness of the enclosed space becomes dark, and the body exists in a world turned inside out and becomes light.
I appear in a very small walled space with only a narrow opening, an entrance without a door. I spin my body continuously, falling and getting up again, until I am exhausted and fall down on the floor.
