The mixed media sculpture, Inner Silence belongs to the Silence Series, a series of artworks in various media created in 2010 and after.
DESCRIPTION
Part of the Silence series, Inner Silence uses self-textured pieces of white cotton fabric as a metaphor for silence — pure, sheer, original, untouched — and works into them with colorful cotton threads as a metaphor for thoughts and the stream of consciousness. White is associated with silence because of its purity and originality, and the phenomenon of silence itself shares these qualities. The threads pierce and disrupt the white surface the way thoughts enter and disturb the silent mind.
