The mixed media sculpture, Silence – A Paradox belongs to the Silence Series, a series of artworks in various media created in 2010 and after.
DESCRIPTION
Prolonged Mundane Silence is something which constantly exchanges its own place with its opposite; that is a strange heaviness, an unknown sound and after a while becomes a sound in itself.
A five & half kilogram book is having a metal cover with empty light weight cloth like paper pages inside. Through this book representing a paradox between Silence and its mundane experience which creates a strange, unbearable heaviness inside oneself as in the case of a person who is deaf since birth; who knows only Silence imposed by nature, so the realization of sound doesn’t happen. Consequently the overwhelming Silence becomes Sound in itself. Thus, Silence is there but still not existing or existing but still not there.
