DESCRIPTION
Part of the Silence series, Sound & Silence presents the relationship between silence and sound as one of birth: silence gives birth to sound, like a female giving birth and taking care of what it produces. The random shapes of honeycomb become an abdomen — a space the bees prepare for themselves to give eggs, hatch them, and care for the new-born, a process that keeps repeating. This constant, cyclical giving-birth is the relationship between sound and silence.
As John Cage said, “…no Silence exists which is not impregnated with sound.”
